Young German watchmaker, Stefan Kudoke, is soon to be awarded the Brandenburg Zukunftspreis (“Future Prize”) award in recognition of his local and international achievements in watchmaking. Particularly his beautifully skeletonized movements, many of which are based on ETA’s calibre 6497.
In light of J. Peter’s recent post on applying perlage to a 6497 he is customizing, I thought our readers might be interested in seeing just how much character it is possible to add to these otherwise bland (but hardy) movements. To view some photographs of Kudoke’s work, check out the skeleton watch gallery at Kudoke.eu.

When I have the cash, at some point I want to buy a bunch of 6497’s from ETA. Not cheap, but IMO worth it.
It is a great movement to learn on, Wackyvorlon, and very reliable to use.
