I just acquired this fantastic toy! Well, to me it’s a toy. In reality it is a fully functional model of the Kif shock-resistant balance protection system. I love just playing with it.
I talked about Shock Resistance before and highlighted a video as well.
I suspect this little model was used as a sales tool back when shock-resistant watches were new. It would also make a great teaching tool. For me it’s just a marvelous machine, much like watches.

We had a large model that actually had a wheel between two plexiglass sheets that had the kif springs and jewels mounted at the school I attended. I loved to give that wheel a hearty spin and feel the gyro action.
I was kinda embarrassed when I broke it.
the teacher made a new spring from a piece of brass and told me to be easy on it from now on.
There is also a flash demonstration on

Normally shock resistance found on
balance wheel, but why we also found on third wheel and escape wheel in Seiko 7S26 as described by John Davis ?http://www.thepurists.com/watch/features/8ohms/7s26/
