I went to Basel two years ago. The most memorable part of the show was meeting AHCI master Kari Voutilainen who was wearing his Masterpiece 8.

As a small collector not affiliated with the industry, I felt a little bit closed out of talking to the reps. However, we had a nice chat with one of the reps from Carlo Ferrari since my travelling buddy was wearing one of their regulators.

I'd love to go to SIHH but I think it'll be a while before I go back to Basel.
